. From 1900C it seems Daniel Lehane ~ May 1838 did not arrive in the US until 1864 - did sister Catharine/Kate travel with him?? 17/8/2014 - searched Ancestry for ~1864 arrivals without luck

A John Lane, 30, carpenter,with wife Ellen and son John, 3, in Allegheny in 1870C . Still around in 1880C, aged 40, a new wife, Barbara, John13, James 10 & 3 girls - so CANNOT BE Stephen's John, as a John Lane aged 36, was living with Stephen in 1880C.

1890C Only fragments survive. Nothing for Pennsylvania and very little around New York
1900C Daniel Lane 62, teamster, birth date May 1838, unemployed for 11 mth, married 18 years = 1882, cannot read nor write!, and has children Denis, Daniel & Catherine. Total of 7 children born, 3 dead. Only 3 children living with him- missing one being Elizabeth ~ 1882. . Had arrived in the States in 1864. Living Manhattan

Would his 1882 m.c. tell us anything?
Thought Catherine Daly could be his sister, born ~1846- probably not, as actually says she is single, born April 1840 and came to the States in 1860 from Ireland. She is a tailoress . But ages unreliable and maybe they used single for widowed ??. Also a Catherine Daly, 71, is to be found in the 1910C and is clearly not the ex Catharine Lane
1910C. Daniel Lane, 75, widower, now able to read & write!, is living Manhattan ward 7 , no occupation, with a daughter Elizabeth 29, Daniel Jnr 24 and- again - Rose Mullen, tailor, now only 50! Son Daniel work is "cable spher telephone"?
So his wife has died 1900-1910
1920C. Presumably I did not find him? So a death 1910-1920?
